What does the Bible teach about salvation?

Everyone has sinned against God.

(Romans 3:23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Sin causes us to be separated from God. The Bible refers to this as spiritual death.

(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

How to get right with God?

Man has tried various ways to get themselves right with God. They have tried to do good things, punish themselves, etc. But the Bible tells us that God Himself took the first step to make us right with Him.

(Romans 5:8) But God recommends his own love to us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus took the penalty of sin on our behalf when He died on the cross. When we believe in what Jesus has done for us, we will receive eternal life in heaven.

(John 3:16) “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

We are not saved by doing good works.

(Ephesians 2:8-9) By this undeserved kindness you have been saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing; rather, it is God’s gift. No, it is not a result of works, so that no one should have grounds for boasting.

Pray this prayer to receive God’s gift of eternal life.

Jesus, I am sorry that I have sinned against you. I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I trust in you alone to give me eternal life in heaven and not on my own good works. Please come into my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be.
